Paola Zeppi

Born in Fossombrone (PU) in 1978. Degree in Modern Literature from the University of Bologna, former freelance journalist, mother of three children.
She has been painting since she “discovered [her] need for freedom, so as not to risk being locked up in Rebibbia”.

In 2021 she created the “TelaReplay” Canvas: starting from the past, intertwining it with the present, to give life to something that addresses the future in the name of one word: openness. What is open is possible, it is free, it is alive. It is the perpetual effort to seek rationality in emotions, discovering that rationality, without emotions, makes no sense. The weave is the basis of the textures of the fabrics, it has its origin in tradition, it supports firmly but with simplicity, and it is something bodily with which the air coexists.

“Paola Zeppi has freed herself from the constraints of the figure and even from the less stringent ones of a traditional abstraction, and has happily arrived at a sort of post-spatialism in which the element of going beyond the canvas is seen in the operations of Lucio Fontana or Paolo Scheggi, does not happen by rupture, or by extroflection, in the style of Bonalumi, but by recomposition.
A polychrome recomposition that takes place through the intertwining to recall weaving, one of the works that has distinguished the world of women since the dawn, and in this take, as for example in Maria Lai, there is no idea of submission, if anything proud female pride”
